University Of Virginia Sports fans are some of the best, most knowledgeable and “fan”atical in the country. These followers of Cavalier sports have good reason to be proud of their University and both the mens and womens athletic programs. The Wahoo’s, as they are sometimes called, excel across the board in sports from baseball to soccer to lacrosse to tennis. There is no shortage of sports events for Cavalier fans to attend throughout the entire school year.

The Cavs has won 15 national titles since 1980 in both mens and womens sports and are regular champions of the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) year in and year out. The men lead the national championship titles with 6 in lacrosse, 6 in soccer, and 2 in boxing. The women have attained this honor 3 times in lacrosse, twice in cross country, and once in track and field.

The ACC titles in all sports are too numerous to list but the mens soccer teams can boast of being invited into the NCAA Tournament 26 years in a row. Klockner Stadium is home for soccer matches and is where the consistently top ten ranked womens team plays as well.

John Paul Jones Arena is where fans can watch mens and women basketball. The new arena was christened by the mens team with an ACC championship in it’s inaugural year. A stroll over to Davenport Field will find the baseball which has become a perennial powerhouse nationally making the College World Series in 2009 and 2011.

Over at the Aquatics and Fitness center you will find the home of the swim teams which have won numerous ACC championships back to back. The tennis squads play at Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center where visiting teams regularly leave without a win. It’s easy to see why Cavalier fans have a lot to shout about.
